Alexander de Avila is a Marine and master’s in public policy student at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He serves as a volunteer at the Defending Digital Democracy Project (D3P) through Harvard’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs and is a fellow at the Center for Public Leadership. Alexander has been involved in a number of political movements, including an effort that convinced Congress to compensate the American diplomats and Marines who were held hostage in Tehran from 1979-1981. An ardent advocate for public service innovation, Alexander’s work has been featured at Medium, PolicyMic, Salon, and Harvard’s Kennedy School Review, where he serves as the 21st Editor-in-Chief. Alexander is a graduate of Claremont McKenna College, where he focused his studies on international security and how the unmanned revolution in military affairs (RMA) affects war cost calculations amid developed nations.
